STORIA

Rocco Furfaro, a passionate entrepreneur and football enthusiast, significantly shaped Italian-Canadian football in Montreal. Emigrating from Rome in 1960, he took ownership of the Superga team in 1970, originally founded by Tony Como to honour the legendary Grande Torino team that perished in the 1949 Superga air disaster. Renamed Superga St-Viateur, the team thrived under Rocco's leadership, winning numerous titles, including two Quebec Cups and an O'Keefe Cup. Superga's victories, including an unbeaten 1968 season, solidified its place in Montreal's soccer legacy. Rocco's dedication extended to forming the National League of Quebec in 1986. Although the league eventually declined, Rocco's impact on the sport and his community endured until his passing in 2005. The Superga team's story, rooted in homage to Grande Torino, remains a symbol of resilience, community pride, and sporting excellence in Montreal.

By rebooting the team and its brand, we honour the memory of Rocco Furfaro and the many players who etched their names into our city's football history. This revival is more than just about the sport; it's about uniting the community, celebrating our rich heritage, and inspiring a new generation to embrace the passion and camaraderie that football fosters.
